Breathe & Embrace

Let’s try something together here.

Take a seat.

Play some soft music.

Relax your body and mind.

For 10 to 15 seconds, inhale and exhale. Just breathe.

Have you ever thought about how much we take breathing for granted? It’s deeper than just the activity of your lungs. Your lungs can act in full capacity and you can exist, but still miss the beauty of living. Depression and anxiety has that influence. But sometimes you should stop. Don’t think, worry, stress, contemplate, inspect or panic. Simply breathe and know that everything will work out.

You might feel colorblind in a world full of color. Everything seems dark and grey. But close your eyes. Calmly breathe. Now open your eyes again. In the world that God painted, he decided to include a beautiful color called YOU. You are the color of the world.

Your life is not invalidated because you have depression, anxiety or any other form of mental illness. I wish I could make it go all away for you. But there is power in standing still and letting God take care of everything else.

Breathe.

Exodus 14:14 The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.

So Breathe. Pause. Feel. Invite. Allow. Trust. Receive. Appreciate….

Embrace.

There is hope in the midst of depression. It is time to start embracing life again. Embrace that you are a vessel of light that is needed in the world. Every day begins with an act of courage and hope.

So have vision to see. Faith to believe. Courage to do. You can and will do this.

This will often times be an uncertain mental health process. But God’s love and fight for you remains constant. So embrace gratitude. You may have depression, but you are here to tell the story. He needs you here. Embrace the good days that he gives you and embrace his right hand of guidance during those bad days. And every day will become easier.

So having a tough moment? Breathe in and breathe out. You’re alive. There is purpose. There is meaning. There is a strong hand of help. Don’t give up. Just Breathe and Embrace.
